Places to Visit
- The Needles, Alum Bay Coloured Sands and The Needles Pleasure Park.
- Blackgang Chine and Amusement Park - A good exhibtion too.
- Robin Hill Adventure Park and Gardens.
- Yarmouth Castle - including shipwreck exhibition.
- Newtown abandoned village - you can still see traces of old roads and garden boundaries.
- The Old Town Hall in Newtown - beautifully restored and well worth a visit.
- Museum of Island History in the old Guildhall in Newport.
- Isle of Wight Pearl - does what it says on the tin!
- Carisbrooke Castle - where Charles I was imprisoned.
- Osborne House - the home of Queen Victoria.
- Ventnor Botanic Garden - One of our favourites, particularly good in the rain!
- Brading Roman Villa - very evocative of Roman times.
- Fort Victoria - houses a Marine Aquarium, the Underwater Archaeology Centre, the Planetarium and a Model Railway.
- Isle of Wight Steam Railway - take a trip on the steam train.
- The 'Pepper Pot' (St Catherines Oratory) - A good walk with spectacular views from the medieval lighthouse.
- Calbourne Water Mill - a pretty spot with crazy golf.
- The Needles Old Battery and the Rocket testing site - spectacular views and interesting exhibitions.
- Amazon World - a very interesting zoo.
- The Owl and Falconry centre at Appuldurcombe - take time to view Appuldurcombe House and Freemantle Gate.
- Donkey Sanctuary - cute donkeys!
- Dinosaur Isle - mostly fossils - no live dinosaurs!
- Bus Museum - lots of lovely old buses.
- Bembridge Windmill - a nice spot to sit and look at the view.
- Military History Museum - A collection of tanks and you can ride in a saracen.

- The restaurant at Farringford, the former home of Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
- The cafe at Afton Apple Farm - sit outside in the beautiful english cottage garden.
- The Highdown Inn - a hearty meal after a long walk.
- The Bargemans Rest - excellent food by the Quay in Newport.
- The Spyglass Inn on the seafront at Ventnor.
- Warren Farm - excellent cream teas and light lunches.
- The cafe at Dimbola, the former home of the photographer Julia Margaret Cameron.
- The Dandelion Cafe overlooking Freshwater Bay.
- The Waterfront Pub and Restaurant, Totland Bay.
- Barefoot on the Beach, Colwell Bay.
